The invention relates to a coating device (1) for coating foods with a coating material, in particular with a sugar solution or with a solution based on sugar substitute, with a housing (2), a coating chamber (9) inside the housing (2), in which a dispensing device (6) for dispensing the coating material can be placed, and a circumferential belt (3), which forms sections of the wall of the coating chamber (9) and is provided as a support surface for the food. The invention relates in particular to a coating device in which the belt (3) has a multiplicity of gas passages (30) which are designed to accelerate the solidification of the coating material.
