Method for manufacturing high-temperature superconductor-coil utilized in power plant generator, involves winding strip conductor in layers around winding carrier, where coil is manufactured such that radial pressure exists between layers
The method involves providing a strip conductor (300) with a band-shaped substrate tape (310) and a superconductor layer (320) that is located on the substrate tape. The conductor is wound in layers around a winding carrier so as to obtain a coil winding, where thermal expansion coefficient of a material of the carrier is smaller than effective thermal expansion coefficient of the conductor in a longitudinal direction of the conductor. A coil is manufactured such that positive radial pressure exists between the layers of the winding at room temperature and operating temperature of the coil. An independent claim is also included for a high-temperature superconductor coil.
