The device (1) has a band shaped carrier (2) provided with semiconductor light sources e.g. white LEDs (4), arranged in series. The semiconductor light sources are covered by a partially reflecting transparent covering (6) i.e. outweighing diffuse reflecting covering. Color change regions are arranged on a covering layer (18) of the carrier adjacent to the sources and are covered by the covering. The color change regions are formed as wavelength conversion regions with fluorescent or as color filter regions with a light-absorbing substance. The carrier is designed as a mechanical resilient or flexible circuit board. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a lighting device.
