The method involves placing a sheet element (12) on a roller (18), and arranging a functional layer on roller. The roller and the sheet element are arranged in mold cavity of forming tool and introducing ceramic material in the mold cavity such that the functional layer of the sheet element is partially covered from the ceramic element to produce molded article. An independent claim is included for ceramic functional component.
