The method involves determining change of frequency of light (120) emitted from a light source i.e. headlight (110), where the light represents light radiated of an object. Information such as alternation in relative velocity between a vehicle (100) and the object is determined based on the frequency change of the light. A determination is made whether a light signal is combined with a reference signal of the light to determine the change of the light frequency, where the light signal represents the light received by a light detecting device e.g. camera (112) and light sensor, of the vehicle. The light detecting device is designed as a light sensor and a camera. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for determining information about relative velocity between a vehicle and an object (2) a computer program product comprising instructions for determining information about relative velocity between a vehicle and an object.
