The receiver (20) has a synchronous switch (28) formed of two diode bridges. Each bridge comprises four diodes. Anodes of the first and fourth diodes of each bridge and cathodes of the second and third diodes of each bridge are connected with common phase and antiphase outputs of antiphase drivers, respectively in opposite directions. Connection points between the first and second diodes of each bridge are connected to a photodiode (22). Connection points between the fourth and third diodes of each bridge form signal outputs. The antiphase driver is formed as a pulse transformer or an exclusive OR gate arrangement.
