The unit (120) has an acceleration sensor sensing physical quantity such as acceleration or pressure, by movement of the force receiving element in the receiving pipe, where the unit is formed to absorb impact energy during movement of a force receiving element into a receiving pipe, where the impact energy is lesser than force acting on the unit when the force receiving element is completely received in the receiving pipe. A damping element is arranged between the force receiving element and the sensor, where the damping element is made of elastomeric material and/or gel material. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for recognizing impact strength of object on a vehicle (2) a computer program product comprising a set of instructions to perform a method for recognizing impact strength of object on a vehicle.
