The glass cutter (10) has a frame (12), a cutting tool (14) and a drive (16) supported on the frame and connected to cutting tool for pressing the cutting tool along a displacement path against the surface of the glass workpiece with an adjustable force. The drive comprises an electromagnet (18) which is arranged upon actuation to press the cutting tool in the working area with a constant force against the surface of the glass workpiece.
