The battery has a set of cells arranged inside a closed battery housing (14). A fan (20) maintains the cells at moderate temperature, and is arranged in an intake opening (24) of an inner housing (12) of the cells, where the inner housing comprises an exhaust opening (32). The intake opening and the exhaust opening are arranged in the inner housing spaced apart from the battery housing such that airflow is produced between the inner housing and the battery housing and circulated from the intake opening to the exhaust opening and flows through the inner housing along the cells. The inner housing is made of a thermal insulative material i.e. plastic. The cells are lithium ion cells.
