The method for the surface treatment of a diamond-like carbon (DLC) layer on a component, is claimed, where the DLC layer is radiated with a hard material that has an average grain size of 3-30 mu m and comprises a spherical surface and/or an irregular surface. The method is carried out at a beam pressure of 2.5-3.5 bars and a beam duration of 90 seconds to 3 minutes. An independent claim is included for a component.
