The method involves compacting and welding individual wires (11) in a free-lying section of the wires for forming a contacting section (13), and positioning the contacting section on a contact portion i.e. contact crimp, of a contact. The contacting section is welded with the contact portion, where the contacting section is designed with a rectangular cross-section. The contact portion is deformed before or during the positioning of the contacting section on the contact portion such that the contact portion has a planar support surface for the contacting section.
