The method involves accelerating a test object (4) initially to a reference speed and finally decelerating to an idle position similar to a real impact for simulating the impact of the motor vehicle on a barrier. A simulated emergency stop is downstream to the final deceleration up till the idle position such that the test object drives into the final deceleration only with a speed that is reduced relative to the reference speed. An independent claim is included for a crash simulation system for executing crash-sled test in a motor vehicle.
