The pinion-bearing-unit (3) comprises a pinion (13), which is freely pivoted around a rotational axis on two sides of a bearing (21) and a counter bearing (17). The radial forces and axial forces acting on the pinion are received by the bearings. The pinion, the bearing and the counter bearing are arranged in a housing (5). A shaft end (19) is formed as a hollow shaft or a solid shaft, where the bearing has two roller bearings, which together form a support bearing in O-arrangement. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a gear with a drive shaft; and (2) a rack drive with a rack.
