The bearing has a helical pinion (103) i.e. snail, provided with two shaft ends on longitudinal axis (A), where the shaft ends are axially and rotatably supported in bearings (106a, 106b). The bearings arranged at the shaft ends are accommodated in a tubular element (107), which is rotatable around an axis and supported in a housing section (102) of a steering gear (100) i.e. worm gear. The axis runs parallel and spaced to the longitudinal axis of the helical pinion. The axis is defined by an articulated bearing designed as roller bearings, sliding bearings or elastomer bearings. The articulated bearing is formed as an axially prestressed roller bearing.
