A conveyor (12) has a conveyor track (20) for conveying the conveyed material (14), a conveyor section (46) in which the conveyed material is fed, a conveyor section (48) by which the conveyed material is discharged, and a rotary unit (16) for defined positioning of conveyed material about rotational axis (30) of a hub (28). The conveyed material is transferred between conveyor sections through the rotary unit. The gripping and releasing of conveyed material in the respective conveyor sections are carried out by the grippers (36), during rotational movement of rotary unit.
