The method involves striking points (14a-14c) of a lithium-ion-battery cell (10) with a striking tool (12) i.e. hammer, during a measuring process, and detecting induced sound (16) from the points of the battery cell, where the detected induced sound is subjected to analysis that uses Fourier-transformation and/or wavelet-transformation. An amplitude image is assigned to the battery cell, where the amplitude image is subjected to an image analysis. The induced sound is detected by using a free-standing microphone (18), impact sound microphone, strain gauge or acceleration sensor.
