The conveyor chain (3) has multiple contact surface areas which are subjected to rubbing wear, where one of the contact surface areas is provided with the structural elements reducing the rear contact surface of the contact surface areas. The structural elements are made from the same material as the respective contact surface areas. The structural elements have projections and rounded contours. The heights of the structural elements amount between 0.05 millimeter and 2 millimeter. An independent claim is included for a conveyor chain system with a contact surface areas with high material hardness of structural elements.
