The display device comprises an illumination unit with which a traction battery of a motor car (1) is electronically coupled during a charging process so that the information about state of charge of the traction battery is provided during the charging process by the illumination unit. The illumination unit is selected from a headlight (2a), a taillight (2b), an indicator (2c), brake lights, day headlight, registration plate light, and interior lighting unit. An independent claim is included for software program product for displaying state of charge of motor car traction battery.
