The method involves controlling a predefined part of a lamp unit which produces a pattern, where a parameter is detected. Another predefined part of the lamp unit is partially controlled from the former predefined part, if the parameter corresponds to a predefined value. The latter predefined part of the lamp unit produces another pattern. The former predefined part and the latter predefined part are individually adjusted. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a motor vehicle with a controller; (2) a computer program, particularly a driver- or vehicle related smart phone-application for executing a for parameter-dependent controlling method; and (3) a computer program product with a program code-unit.
