The arrangement (10) comprises a control and regulation device (12) for the headlamp assembly of a vehicle, a detecting unit (14) for detecting the presence of wild animal (44) such as deer on a roadway (36) for vehicle and for providing an input signal (24) for the control and regulation device, and a switching unit (16) for switching the headlights (20,22) of headlamp assembly. An evaluation device (18) outputs a control signal (26) to the switching unit in response to the input signal. The detection device is an infrared sensor or an optical imaging system. An independent claim is included for a method for controlling headlamp system of vehicle.
