The food and/or food group which is to-be-cooked is selected in the first step, and the food is introduced into a cooking chamber (14) and the pressure cooking process is started in the second step. In the third step, a predetermined pressure cooking program is run automatically, and in the fourth step, the positive pressure in the cooking chamber is discharged in controlled manner and the cooking chamber is opened. A predetermined pressure cooking program is interrupted, when a user selects a food which is to be cooked together with the food already remaining in the cooking chamber. An independent claim is included for a pressure cooker.
