The device (1) i.e. lifting fork (2), has a load safety device (19) comprising magnets (20) i.e. electromagnets, and/or a vacuum clamping element (21), which are assigned to fork prongs (12, 13). The vacuum clamping element rests on the fork prongs upon sucking a load. The magnets are arranged in retainers (22) of the fork prongs and/or the vacuum clamping element comprises suction lines, which flow into the retainers. The vacuum clamping element and/or the magnets are arranged at a lower side (24) of the fork prongs such that a magnetic field is produced at the lower side of the fork prongs.
