The device comprises a storage tower (10) having at its base a reception zone (11) for the cutting machine shuttle table and above the reception zone two superposed storage floors for sheet metal blanks. A lift (30) comprises a vertically mobile cradle (31) on the side of the tower driven so as to be placed opposite the reception zone or the different storage floors. A loading/unloading fork (40) has a series of parallel spaced fingers which can be engaged in the ribs of the shuttle table and adapted on the cradle to be able to translate horizontally between a retraction position in the cradle and an extension position in the volume delimited by the storage tower. An independent claim is included for a steel plate cutting installation.
