The airbag (3) has an outwardly directed external surface provided in a sub-region that is connected to an ear of a passenger during inflation of the airbag. The sub-region is provided with a layer that is pulled from channels to be opened from an outer side of the layer. The layer includes rigidity, which is selected such that a minimum cross-sectional region of the channels is preserved on the airbag during impact of a head (4) of the passenger. The channels are guided to an edge of the sub-region and limited by bars that are made of flexible material.
