The airbag (100) has main fabric layers (1, 2) forming an inflatable gas bag casing, where one main layer is formed as a pressureless guard layer. An additional layer (3) is arranged within the gas bag casing at an inner side of the main layer. An inverted common seam (41) designed as a twin seam connects the main fabric layers and the additional layer. The seam is provided inside the airbag casing and extended along an airbag peripheral edge (65) of the airbag. The additional layer is connected to the main layer in a gastight manner. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an airbag for a passenger protection system of a car.
