The device (3) has a pneumatic spring (5) for transferring a spring force (7) between a body (9) and a wheel (11) of a motor car (1). The pneumatic spring is connected in parallel with a hydraulic actuator (13) for transferring a hydraulic adjusting force (15) between the body and the wheel. A double-flow hydraulic power supply (17) is arranged upstream to the hydraulic actuator for providing an auxiliary energy (19) that is required to generate the hydraulic adjusting force. The power supply has a flow (23) hydraulically switched in parallel or parallely switchable with another flow (21). An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a shock absorber device of a motor car.
