The packaging machine has a magazine for collapsed folding boxes and an erecting unit (1) for erecting a packaging, particularly for erecting the collapsed folding boxes, where the erecting unit has a drive unit (16) and a linearly movable and rotatably arranged folding grippers (10,20) for removing and erecting the collapsed folding boxes from magazine. The former folding gripper has folding arm (11) and the latter folding gripper has another folding arm (21) for controlled opening of the folding boxes. The folding grippers are arranged independently pivotally to each other. An independent claim is included for a method for erecting a packaging, particularly for erecting collapsed folding boxes for a packaging machine.
