The device has an electric motor driven booster device (25) comprising a piston-cylinder unit (26) that is connected to a wheel brake through a hydraulic connection. Another hydraulic connection in valve units i.e. switching valves (33a, 36), is connected to a reservoir (7). Another valve unit of a wheel brake is associated with outlet switching valves (15-18) that are operated in multiplex mode. The electric motor-driven booster device actuates a plunger (29). A hydraulic travel simulator (21) is actuated by a piston of a piston-cylinder device (3).
