The method involves conveying a partly hydrogenated liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC) from a storage tank (1) into a chemical reactor (3), where hydrogen is not chemically bound as a pure substance in the LOHC in a hydrogen gas station. The partly hydrogenated LOHC in the chemical reactor is dehydrogenated under release of the hydrogen. The hydrogen is conveyed from a compressor (4) into a hydrogen infrastructure of a vehicle (5). The low energy LOHC is conveyed into another storage tank (2), and organic vapors are condensed by a fractionating column. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for operating a hydrogen gas station.
