The device (10) has a mobile supporting device (12) coupled to a movable workpiece i.e. motor vehicle (18), and robots (14, 16) i.e. lightweight robots, attached to the supporting device. The robots couple the supporting device and/or the processing device to the workpiece. The robots are provided with a force and/or movement sensor for detecting movement of the workpiece, where reference values for controlling the supporting device are provided based on the movement of the workpiece. The supporting device is designed as a driverless transport vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a method for processing a movable workpiece.
