The sensor (2) has an electrical lead line (5) for supplying power, and a test compression device (3) i.e. micro-pump, provided in a housing of the pressure sensor. The test compression device is temporarily connected with the lead line of the pressure sensor. An opening (3.1) is provided for surrounding a housing of the pressure sensor by which a gas-permeable and liquid-impermeable fabric (3.2) is protected. The opening is large, so that pressure equalization is larger than a given minimum volume for each time unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a pressure sensor.
