Synthesizing trichlorosilane, comprises converting metallic silicon and hydrogen chloride in a reactor (10) using aluminum as a catalyst, recycling at least partially aluminum chloride in the reactor leaked out from the reactor, and reusing the recycled aluminum chloride containing aluminum as the catalyst. An independent claim is included for a device for synthesizing trichlorosilane, comprising the reactor for synthesis of trichlorosilane by the conversion of metallurgical silicon and hydrogen chloride, a stripping column (16), and a return device (20) connected to a bottom of the stripping column and the reactor.
