The apparatus (100) has outer and inner chambers (102,104) that are provided with respective inner and outer ports (106,108) that are in air-communication with outer side. The outer and inner chambers are configured such that inner chamber is compressed by propellant gas when propellant gas enters in space between inner and outer chambers through outer port, so that gas is supplied through inner port. The inner chamber is compressed by outer chamber if outer chamber is manually compressed inwards, so that gas is supplied from inner chamber through inner port. An independent claim is included for gas-driven anesthesia machine.
