The system (1) has a fuel cell (10) comprising an anode (11) and a cathode (12). A pipeline (13) is provided for supplying fuel-containing fluid from the fuel cell to the anode, and another pipeline (14) is provided for dissipation of exhaust gas of the anode from the fuel cell to a separation device (20). The separation device partially separates the exhaust gas into fuel-enriched fluid flow (32) and a fuel-depleted fluid flow (33). The separation device is designed as a gas centrifuge and provided for compressing the fuel-enriched flow. A cooling device (16) cools the gas of the anode. The fuel cell is designed as a solid oxide fuel cell. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a fuel cell system.
