The thin-film solar cell has a glass substrate, semiconductor layer and a barrier layer arranged between the glass substrate and the semiconductor layer. The barrier layer has a thermal expansion coefficient of 4 ppm/K and elastic modulus of 50 GPa. The barrier layer comprises a thickness of 200 nm. The glass substrate has a thermal expansion coefficient of 5 ppm/K and glass transition temperature of 550 degree centigrade. An independent claim is included for method for manufacturing thin-film solar cell.
