Method for manufacturing permanent magnet that is used in electric traction motor of e.g. hybrid vehicle, involves sintering preset shape such that magnet is formed with uneven distribution of one of materials on surface of other material
The method involves providing a material e.g. neodymium, iron or boron, and another material e.g. dysprosium and terbium. The dysprosium and terbium are provided in a metal alloy form. The materials are combined in a mechanical mill such that one of the materials is coated with a layer of the other material. The materials are formed into predetermined shape. The shape is sintered such that a permanent magnet (105) is formed with uneven distribution of the latter material on a surface of the former material. The latter material is formed along grain boundaries in the former material.
