The method involves centering a disengaging device of a friction clutch device at a transmission input shaft of a gearbox device. An assembly tool (100) is aligned at a gear housing of the gearbox device by using an alignment unit. A clutch disk of the friction clutch device is mounted and centered at an output element of an internal combustion engine. The assembly device is centered at the transmission input shaft by using a centering device, which comprises a spindle (134) and a clamping device. An independent claim is also included for an assembly device for reaction force-free centered assembly of a friction clutch device at an output element of an internal combustion engine.
