The fuel cell i.e. solid oxide fuel cell-tube (10), has a cylindrical carrier tube formed as a carrier for inner-lying functional layers e.g. anode layer, anode insulation section, cathode layer and electrolyte layer. An end of the tube is closed by a cap section (12), and a middle section (13) is formed between a gas-tight foot section (11) i.e. mounting flange, and the cap section. One of the layers is divided by an area extending in a longitudinal direction of the tube such that two functional layer sections are formed, where the sections are arranged at a distance from each other. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing tubular fuel cell.
