The machine (1) has a carousel (3) for conveying containers (2) at a vertical carousel axle (A) and a printing unit (4) rotatably connected with the carousel. The printing unit comprises print heads (4B, 4W, 4Y, 4M, 4C) arranged in parallel for printing on the containers. A moving device (5) is formed with a container retainer (6) and moves one of the containers along a trajectory (B) i.e. continuous trajectory, associated to the printing unit in printing positions (P), which correspond to the print heads. The trajectory is arranged in a plane vertical to the carousel axle. The trajectory is a trajectory segment, a circle segment, a linear segment and/or a spiral-like segment.
