The method involves concatenating images in a volume, and searching particles (P-ijG1, P-ijG2) in the volume by a three-dimensional (3D) connexity analysis to discretize the particles. Mass centers of each particle are calculated for each of grains to determine coordinates relative to the particles in a plane and direction. An assembly of the coordinates is determined in the plane from positions of the mass centers to form Laue elementary blocks relative to the grain. The blocks are indexed to define orientation and deviatoric elastic deformation of the crystalline mesh of the grains.
