The controller (2) has a sequencer (21) that starts a count and sends a notification when a given time is reached. The sequencer is requested to start counting and output an instruction for reading data in a solid state drive (SSD) (3) upon receiving a write command from a host system (1). A data processing unit (24), in response to a read command, reads a specified data in the SSD and stores the data in a storage area (23b) of a buffer memory (23). A reading control unit (40) sends the stored data to the host system when the notification is received from the sequencer. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a controller for a storage device.
