The engine (10) has a combustion chamber (12) and a supercharging device (13) for combustion air, where the device allows compression of ambient air (18) for its admission in the chamber. An air compressor (14), two heat exchangers (15, 16), and a metering device (17) are arranged, where the compressor delivers compressed air. The metering device controls admission of compressed air toward the chamber. One of the heat exchangers ensures heat exchange between the compressed air and water, and the other heat exchanger ensures heat exchange between the compressed air and the ambient air.
