The apparatus (10) has a tank (12) for receiving a packaging (11) to be tested, and a pump (13) for changing an internal pressure of the tank. A capacitive sensor (22) measures a pressure difference between two pressure sensors (23, 24), where the two pressure sensors are connected inside the tank. A pressure regulator (18) and/or an insulation distributor (20) are located between the tank and the pump. The tank includes movable panels to compartmentalize the interior of the tank, where the panels are not airtight. An independent claim is also included for a method for evaluating the sealing of a packaging.
