The method involves obtaining a signal from X-ray diffractrometry, and choosing the signal to obtain a smoothing function that is parameterized by a parameter that is representative of intensity of smoothing function. Another smoothing function is constructed by determining an optimal parameter for each of a set of X-coordinates. A derivative is determined for the set of X-coordinates. A signal noise is eliminated by applying the latter smoothing function utilized for smoothing the signal, and a sample is analyzed from noiseless signal.
