The appliance (10) has an arcing contact (15), and a ring (16) made of magnetic material and placed around the arcing contact, where the magnetic material is ferrite. The arcing contact cooperates with a primary contact (11). The arcing contact is movable during an operation of opening/closing of the appliance. The arcing contact takes a shape of a rod ending in a free end on a level, where an electric arc is formed during the operation of opening/closing of the appliance. The free end is widened so as to maintain the ring in place during the operation of opening/closing.
