The suspension (8) has a spring (14) i.e. helical spring, extended between ends (10, 12) respectively connected to an engine and a frame of a vehicle. A damping system (16) includes a damper (18) and another spring (20). An actuator (22) mechanically connects the damping system between the ends and in parallel to the former spring when amplitude of displacement of the engine is greater than predetermined threshold. The actuator mechanically uncouples the damping system from the engine and/or the frame when the amplitude of the displacement is lower than the threshold.
