Disclosed is a method of managing the evaluation of computer program code. The method starts by an input module receiving an indication of a selection of computer program code to be evaluated. Next, the input module receives an indication of a selection of rules, from a plurality of rules, to be applied to the computer code. Each rule indicating a criterion for compliance with the rule, the criterion being a correct result of a check on a portion of computer program code. Next a processor generates, an indication to be used in evaluating the computer program code, the indicating data comprising the selection of computer program code and the selection of rules. The method may include displaying a list of computer code items and a list of rules, then selecting from each list the required item of code to be evaluated and the rules to corresponding rules.
