PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deformation of a cover, especially a cover made of leather or a fabric due to environmental factors, including humidity, heat and their combination.SOLUTION: A multilayer coating material is formed by joining an outer layer 1 composed of a material which is friendly to humans but undergoes elongation deformation easily owing to environmental factors including humidity to an inner layer 2 composed of a material which does not essentially change in shape owing to the environmental factors so that the inner layer 2 exerts a function of supporting the total load applied to the coating material. The multilayer structure of the coating material composed of the outer layer 1 and the inner layer 2 gives both comfortableness in use and form stability after exposure to a severe environment, including heat and humidity. The multilayer coating material can be produced by superimposing the outer layer on the inner layer and joining the superimposed layers by joining means, e.g. glueing or suture.
