PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a characteristic evaluation method for an electrophotographic photoreceptor, by which a degree of "problems due to a measurement device" can be assessed when a charge potential of the photoreceptor fluctuates during measurement of characteristics of a photoreceptor .;SOLUTION: The characteristic evaluation method comprises a system including a charger 6 which charges a photoreceptor 1, an exposure device 3 which exposes a photosensitive surface after being charged, first and second surface potential meter probes 2, 4 which detect a surface potential of the photoreceptor before and after exposure, and a controller which calculates a charge amount of the photoreceptor; and the method comprises obtaining an electrostatic capacitance of the photoreceptor based on a measurement result of the surface potential and a calculation result of a charge amount. A potential difference V3 (|V2-V1|) is obtained from a measured charge potential V1 at an arbitrary position A on the photoreceptor surface and a predicted charge potential V2 calculated at another position B when the same pass current as in the position A flows; and, based on this value, an assessment is made whether or not the variation in the charge potential is caused by problems of the measurement device.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
