PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method of bacteria capable of simulating a condition close to an actually used environment to evaluate, and a holding material.SOLUTION: The measuring method of bacteria comprises: a contact step S21 of bringing a holding material, obtained by incorporating a sebum component and a test solution containing specific bacteria into a base material, into contact with a specimen; and a measurement step S22 of measuring the number of specific bacteria adhered to the specimen or an index correlated with the number of specific bacteria. The index is an amount of ATP or genes. A holding material 1 comprises a base material 3 containing a sebum component 2 and a test solution 4 which contains specific bacteria and is included in the base material 3.
